Nice Work If You Can Get It:
I hadn’t heard any buzz around this show before seeing it, so it was interesting seeing a show where I went in not knowing what to expect. I thought the plot was very typical and predictable, but it was still cute. I was excited to see Matthew Broderick, but I thought his performance lacked quality. I didn’t find him funny, and I was very disappointed. I thought Kelli O’Hara was charming in her role, but she really didn’t stand out to me. The two that I paid the most attention to were Michael McGrath and Robyn Hurder. I thought they both gave wonderful performances, and their characters were entertaining. Most of the songs were very delightful, but I thought the song “Blah, Blah, Blah” was a terrible joke. I definitely enjoyed the second act a lot more than the first. What I liked the most was the set and the costumes. Aside from the Jack Kelly look-alike costume, the other costumes were so bright and beautiful. The set was gorgeous as well. I liked the musical, but it wasn’t anything that I’d rave about. If you’re looking for a fluff and light musical, this is the one for you.
